We are so excited to introduce you to our newest partner homeowner, Ms. Debra. Debra and her three granddaughters are partnering with us to build their new, safe, affordable home in Pottstown. The Habitat construction team, alongside contractors & volunteers, as well as Debra have been building since January. This Fall, Debra’s dream will come true and her home will be completed!
Thanks to you, Debra and her girls will have a safe home.
Debra is one of the most selfless people we have ever met. This is evident in the ways she not only cares for her granddaughters, but with how she cares for others. Debra is well known around Pottstown as a mother figure. Children and teens know they can go to her for support and advice, and take comfort in knowing that her door will always be open for them. Debra calls herself an unofficial foster mom to the many children she has taken in over the years and helped get back on track.
Now it’s time to give some of that love back to Debra.
A single grandmother to three teen girls, they currently live in a home that does not really accommodate their family needs. Especially during the new normal of digital work and school. For the past several years Debra has selflessly given up her own bedroom and found short-term solutions for big problems, such as a leaking roof, a faulty heater, and unstable stairs. And that’s all about to change.

“Owning an affordable home is life-changing for me and my family,” Debra said.
She wants you to know how important Habitat MontDelco’s work is for so many other families in our community who need a hand up, especially after this past year. These are hard-working, deserving families, just like Debra’s.
And the need is great. Right now, we have a wait list of over 300 families in need of safe, affordable housing.
In fact after we complete Debra’s home, our construction team begins work on four new homes in Hatfield.
