WOMEN BUILD

Together We Build Our Future

Female homeownership is on the rise! Despite women earning $.81 for every dollar a man makes, the homeownership rate among women has increased by over 10% in the last 20 years. Now, women-headed households account for half of all households in the U.S.! Women are becoming homeowners at an unprecedented rate, breaking barriers in an industry that men have historically dominated.

Habitat MontDelco’s Women Build 2025 is about empowerment, education, and community. This initiative brings women together to address our community’s affordable housing crisis by providing the tools, skills, and opportunities to make an impact.

We dedicate Women Build 2025 to the incredible women in our Habitat community who have taken the courageous step toward homeownership. These women have overcome challenges, navigated obstacles, and worked hard to provide stable, secure homes for themselves and their families. The Women Build initiative is a testament to the power of collective action, proving that when women come together, they don’t just build homes—they build lasting change in their communities.

Together, we will build secure homes that provide hope, independence, and opportunity to families in Montgomery and Delaware Counties.

A Typical Women Build Day

Women Build Day volunteers work under the guidance of construction professionals and alongside other volunteers and future Habitat homeowners.

A build day typically starts at 9:00 am when the site supervisor gives a safety briefing, describes the objectives for the day, and assigns each volunteer a task.

Volunteers are broken into small groups and work closely with a Habitat-skilled volunteer on the task.

The day begins to wrap up around 3:00 pm and we finish with a group photo!
