WOMEN BUILD
Together We Build Our Future
Female homeownership is on the rise! Despite women earning $.81 for every dollar a man makes, the homeownership rate among women has increased by over 10% in the last 20 years.
Now, women-headed households account for half of all households in the U.S.!
In celebration of International Women’s Day, Habitat’s Women Build campaign is about empowerment, education, and community. Women Build brings women together to address our community’s affordable housing crisis by providing the tools, skills, and opportunities to make an impact.
No prior experience is necessary! Whether you are learning new skills or simply adding a few to your tool belt, this is a rewarding experience for all involved and improves the community you share.
2024 Women Build
Dedicated to First Lady Rosalynn Carter
We dedicated the 2024 Women Build to the late First Lady Rosalynn Carter – a fundamental supporter of Habitat for Humanity’s impact and history. We cannot over-express our gratitude for her advocacy in making affordable housing dreams come true.
A Typical Women Build Day
Women Build Day volunteers work under the guidance of construction professionals and alongside other volunteers and future Habitat homeowners.
A build day typically starts at 9:00 am when the site supervisor gives a safety briefing, describes the objectives for the day, and assigns each volunteer a task.
Volunteers are broken into small groups and work closely with a Habitat-skilled volunteer on the task.
The day begins to wrap up around 3:00 pm and we finish with a group photo!
